Practice Profile:There are five partners in the practice, and we employ one GP on the Retainer Scheme. We have 8,200 patients. The practice team includes a nurse practitioner and two practice nurses and two nursing assistants. Attached staff includes district nurses, health visitors, a midwife, and a community pharmacist. University Teaching Practice We are an enthusiastic and committed teaching practice. Anthony Free, the trainer has been a Tutor to the Division of General Practice since 1990 and has been teaching medical students from St. George’s since 1986. He teaches fourth year medical students, The Graduate Entry Programme, and consultation skills at St. George’s. He is also the Group Convenor of St Helier’s Trainers’ Group, is a GP appraiser, and a GP with special interests in musculoskeletal medicine. Dr. Pardhanani is a Tutor at St. George’s Medical School and has specialist skills in ENT.
Clinics include: baby clinic, antenatal clinic, asthma clinic, diabetic clinic, and smoking cessation clinic. We offer a range of family planning services including coil fitting. The practice is a yellow fever centre providing travel vaccinations and advice. We achieve the higher level of cervical cytology and immunisation targets. We are justly proud of the quality of our management of chronic diseases, having achieved maximum clinical quality points. We also perform acupuncture, minor surgery and joint injections.
The Victorian building has been tastefully converted to provide excellent facilities while retaining many original features. We have a well-stocked library and Internet access. Practice Organisation We are a caring, well-organised practice with a commitment to evidence based medicine. There is an active emphasis on teamwork and multidisciplinary approaches, and we hold regular partnership and primary health care team meetings, in which we encourage the registrar to participate. We would hope that the practice offers a very friendly and supportive learning environment, in which the registrar has the opportunity to learn from all members of the practice team.
